FAQ

WHERE: Waialua, North Shore of Oahu. We will be staying at Camp Homelani, a Salvation Army camp located adjacent to the sand and several surf spots right out front. Here is the address if you'd like to check it out! 68-243 Olohio St. Waialua, HI 96791

WHAT: A "glamping" retreat on the North Shore of Oahu. Days will be filled with free time to go out and explore/surf, and evenings are packed with bonfire worship sessions, guest speakers, and intentional time with the Lord.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS TRIP IS TO.....

Grow closer to God and community while sharing the amazing experience of being in His amazing creation.

Chase waves, surf warm water, meet new friends!

Adventure, surf, fish, completely relax, it's up to you!

SURFING: The North Shore of Oahu is known as the "proving grounds" for surfers around the world. There are advanced world class breaks like Pipeline and Sunset beach, but there are also calmer and more beginner friendly spots to surf close to camp if you are not in the intermediate/advanced range.

HOW DO I GET THERE? Unless you already live on Oahu, you will fly into Honolulu (HNL) airport. We highly recommend renting a car or splitting one with a friend for ultimate freedom to explore, surf, and get around to where you want to go. There is free parking at the camp. If you can't rent a car, you can rideshare to the camp and try and get rides with other campers as needed (bring some cash to offer to help with gas). There may be some airport pickups or carpools available but not guaranteed. Two weeks before the camp we will have everyone in a group chat so you can ask and plan a ride if needed.

ACCOMODATIONS: Cabins are bunk style and split into guy/girl cabins that sleep 16-20 people each. Bathrooms are in adjacent buildings next to the cabins and have indoor and outdoor showers. There are no separate cabins for families, however you are welcome to bring your own tent and camping gear and tent camp with your family/spouse. Camping price is the same whether you are tent camping or sleeping in the shared bunks.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING: Make sure you bring bedding/sleeping bag to sleep on a bunk (or a tent and your own camping/sleeping gear if you would prefer to set up a tent), a pillow, a Bible, Pen and Paper, and a surfboard (you can rent boards here too). No wetsuits are needed unless you get cold in 75-degree water. Reef-safe sunscreen is a must as the Hawaiian sun is hot and you can get fried quickly.

FOOD: Breakfast and Dinner only are included in camp price. Lunches are on your own so you can spend the day exploring and don't need to drive all the way back for food. There are plenty of local restaurants, food trucks, and/or supermarket poke from Foodlands. ALLERGY NOTE: the camp can ONLY accommodate peanut allergies or vegetarian preferences. If you have ANY other allergens like gluten, dairy, etc, the camp will not have options for you. In this instance, we will happily give you a discounted rate without paying for food and you are welcome to store your own stuff at the camp. They will let you use some fridge space and there are microwaves available.

If you have more questions or want to simply share how stoked you are, feel free to contact Emily!
